Cracked breather tube from fan to cvt?

Hi everyone!

I ride a 2008 Adly Jet with a minarelli 49.3cc. Today I did a pre-ride inspection, and saw the rubber hose going from the flywheel cooling fan to the cvt, marked on the parts diagram as "tube breather" had dry rotted and cracked at the 90 degree elbow. I am assuming it pulls air to cool the cvt, but does it have other integral operations? I taped it up with some electric tape and have been going easy while the new part comes in, I was hoping to get some good advice from you guys!

as you suspected that tube is really a cooling tube, not a breather tube.
