scooter tire questions

Hey,

My current scoot is labled a alien longbo, aka roketa aka every gy6 but my tires size reads 4.00 x 12 my question is if I need to replace them what size do I need to ask for or do I just tell them the 4x12 size and I actually would like to go bigger these little tires makes me personally feel real unstable .

I found this on an old forum (2008). It will give you a starting point.

4.00x12 is a pretty high profile tire! That's equivalent to a 100/100-12.

Most of the 12 inch wheels I see are using 120/70 or 130/60 tires, which have about the same outside diameter as 3.50x10 tires. (The manufacturers do that so they can advertise "larger" 12 inch wheels while still using standard GY6 engines and drive trains!)

Good luck on your quest to find a replacement tire!

What do you think could be the biggest tire I could put on that rim?

That is something you are going to have to figure out on your own. How much room is there between the present tire's sidewall and the shock spring. Better measure both right and left sides, for things are not always exactly centered. (I am assuming you have two rear shocks)

Once you know how much room you have, it shouldn't be a problem figuring what will fit and what won't. But even a 130/70x12, won't be as tall as what you have now, so will in effect gear your scooter down slightly.
