Hole in front of gy6 crankcase cover?

What is it for? It looks like an air hose was once connected to it and the original owner deleted it. Can/should I block the hole off?

I am not a gy6 guru, but can you put a hose back on it? Is it a breather hole? I do have a manual I can try and look it up.

I found it is for cooling the clutch. On some models a hose is attached going to a scoop in the scooter fairing. Others, like yours, may just have a screen to keep debris out. There should be a vent on the underside of the case near the middle.
