Scooter Sales. Up Or Down?
MIC is losing sales in scooters while Bintelli scooters thrive. Coincidence? I think not.

The MIC are offering a lot of fun motorcycles under 500cc (rather than beginner bikes that are traded every few years). I think that is eating into scooter sales.
-I also think economic conditions are forcing people into longer commutes, causing them to opt for a motorcycle or automobile. -I also believe the Zongshen RX3 has cut into scooter sales with plenty of power, storage capacity and wind protection for about 4 grand. Like the Bintellis, the RX3 is reliable and provides a lot for the money.

My take is this. The scooter market will always be small and when other sources cut in MIC members lose. SYM and Kymco are not MIC members and are their scooters any less good than the Name Brands? The Chinese are cutting into the biggest market of 50cc models so the Big Guys are losing share there. I see many people at Modern Vespa have Honda NC 700 DCTs in their garage and I think that will be the trend in the future. People who want faster, more reliable rides will opt for a bike with an automatic.
