THINKING about starting a Scooter Shop

Hey Gang:

There's definitely a need where I am, here in North Texas. Gas prices are cheaper here, but still not cheap enough

So I was thinking about opening a scooter shop. I ride a BMS Evo9 - I love it, but it seems like the BMS's aren't the best mechanically and durability-wise. We can forget Vespas, because no one can afford them here.

Any ideas on who has the best models? Thinking about offering them in 50-250cc, as well as an out the door package including helmets, so if you know a good wholesale company, let me know.

And WHEN I get it up and running, if you're looking for a job as a mechanic, and you don't mind the Texas heat, hit me up!

Thanks!

Im actually thinking of opening one up when I move to SC next year.
Most of what I see around here and Asheville are the VIP models.
Im looking into getting the Roketa line up.

Cool idea. Scooters are in demand, but I think the quads are in bigger demand. The Chinese pit bikes sell well too. Most scooter shops around here some of all those things.

A Good choice too. Again, better than the average brand of scoots.

There is a big demand for QUALITY dealers in SC. Scooters are moving at a great pace there but in most areas, the dealerships that are still open are not well run. We've been looking to partner with some new blood in SC, so if you move there, give us a call. You can see our models on www.bintelliscooters.com - all units have 2 year limited warranties, one year of roadside assistance, and tons of upgrades like Motobatt batteries, NGK spark plugs, Gates belts, Duro tires, halogen headlights, stainless steel hardware, and more.

Anti Chinese scooter critics are having less and less to "crow" about these days, as the ever-evolving Chinese manufacturing base continues to to improve both the quality and dependability of their products.

Check out SYM...great bikes from Taiwan. Reasonable prices and as good as anything out there. See the Lance website for information.

Think it over before you commit to opening a shop! I just moved to Fla. from NH. When I lived in NH , I had two customizing & repair motorcycle shops. Owning a shop sounds very glamorous but there are also a lot of headaches. It's your decision but just a word of warning from experience! If I had it to do over , I'd probably do the same thing! Motorcycles & Scooters are my life but I'm 71 now & I'm all done except to ride. Irish
