Malicious hackers are pretty far down there, but they occasionally show vulnerabilities for free (joke, at the cost of quite a bit usually).

It is a bad situation, but it could have been far worse. They could have demanded lots more extortion money since it effected the pharmacy, lab reports, etc. Also it probably did create some minor medicine problems that could have put lives at risk.
