Those numbers are Nationwide. Scooter sales for MIC members (BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group, Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha) have been in a veritable slide since 2008.

You don't see SYM, TGB, Kymco, Genuine, Bintelli, Wolf, Tao Tao, Bashan, BMS, Roketa, Znen or any of the online sellers on that list. There are a number of dealers across the Country selling Chinese and Taiwanese scooters and in many places you can see the increase in those.

I don't believe scooter sales are down, just for the pricey brands listed above. This happened before. British companies went under and AMF bought Harley Davidson because of competition from Japan.
