performance clutch

I put in a performance clutch thinking it would give me higher rpms from what people were saying but it does the opposite.the pads are longer so they grab too fast not allowing the rpms to get up there.i don't know if I should use my old springs and would it be better.the clutch in it now has red springs.would lighter variator sliders work for me?i was looking at dr pulley minerelli 15x12 the slider type.
