How to Choose the Proper Air Intake
Hey All,
Brand new forum member here, been lurking for almost a year learning from other peoples questions...now I have one of my own! I am putting a new TMEC 150cc engine on my scoot and it did not come with an air intake of any kind. No airbox, no nothing. I need to buy one, but I don't know what to get. *The catch: My carb doesn't have have a mixture adjustment screw... When I get an intake, can I hack the mixture adjustment by obstructing part of the intake? Thanks in advance! |

It does have a mixture screw, its covered by a "slug". Drill the slug out and the screw is behind it.

Air intake can be done many ways.....did mine 11,000 miles, or 5 riding seasons ago, it has been trouble free since installation. http://scootdawg.net/picture.php?alb...&pictureid=551
As stated above, you will need a larger main jet.....but that's not a big deal. Somewhere from 110 to 120 should do it......myself, and many others have found a 115 to work well, but there are many variables....so nothing can be written in stone. Yours may like something a bit larger, or a bit smaller, than what works well for someone else.
