That Honda Stylo 160 is sharp! I know the US market won't get them though. I almost got a Honda PCX 160 but have been told Honda recommends the valves be checked something crazy, like every 2000 miles AND its a PITA to get to the valves. I never verified this with my local Honda dealer though, I just purchased a Genuine Buddy 125 instead. I know my way around them pretty well. But I would verify those crazy Honda rumors if we got that dope Stylo 160 in the USA!

I'm thinking you'll find that to be true on your Buddy. Unless someone flogs the living crap out of a scooter the valves settle in after a while.

I never verified the 2000 valve check with my local dealer concerning the PCX. My wife said if that's true then Honda is having some assembly issues and to stay far away for one. We've owned many Honda scooters and have never had to mess with valves in the past. I'll try to drop in my local dealer and verify this crazy rumor and report back.
Now my Buddy 125 gets ridden hard but I baby it and stay on top of all services. I did the initial valve check around 700 miles (in spec) and checked them over the weekend and they were still in spec at 6000 miles. My old Buddy 125 would need the exhaust side adjusted as it was always a tad tight at every check but it was never out enough to cause any issues. I've seen both cheap China (Ice Bear) and "premium" brand scooters need equal valve adjustments, both tight or loose, so just do the service when suggested if the initial checks are out of spec. If the initial checks are good I tend to get a bit lazy. |

This is his story. I watch his videos all the time to see if or when he has a problem. So far very few. BTW that kilometer reading translates to 4200 miles in 9 months. Not bad for a cheap Chinese scooter.
