1990 yamaha zuma

I know where I can get a zuma for 300 but it doesn't run.its in the shop and I asked the mechanic whats wrong with it and he said it needs rings.there is 5000 on the speedo and mechanic said he replaced the coil ,stator and belt.being a 1990 I have my doubts on who is telling me the truth.it has a bbk kit on it and already it needs rings.it has brand new tires also.i know the mechanic so maybe 300 wouldn't be a bad deal.plastic is all good also.i can do all the work myself so it wouldn't cost much to fix if it is rings.i would put a new bbk kit on it anyway but it has a vertical minarelli that im not familiar with.does it sound like its worth it?

The prebug Zumas are supposed to be lots of fun, and they have just as many aftermarket parts available as the newer Zumas. You don't get as much storage space as the newer ones because of the vertical engine, but they can be made to wheelie easily with a BBK. Also if you fix it up and get it tuned correctly it will be rock-solid reliable.
