Sparkplug appetite

My vento has a appetite for sparkplugs it seems. I have to replace them about every 500 miles. It has always been this way. I use nkg plugs. I have tried different heat ranges over time. The hot brh7 plugs last the least the brh8 last the longest. I tried autolite brands with similar results. The plugs when pulled look ok not burned with tan coloring. Tuning is good and the scooter runs well until the plug goes bad and the it starts missing at high speed operation. Why does it go thru plugs so fast? I do not know. I have ordered a iridum plug to see if that will last longer. If that don't work I will try a different oil instead of the vavoline I have been using.

Does the insulator or center electrode look strange? It may be running hot =a lean fuel mixture or poor ventilation.

I used to have a problem like that with a Kawasaki two stroke. CDI ignitions don't like it when a plug loads up briefly and they will crack the plug's insulators in spite. First, run Seafoam in the gas to keep the carb and tank clean. Then spend the next 500 miles consciously not whacking the throttle open but rolling it on smoothly and see how the plugs last. I had a similar problem with a Lance 50cc scooter. In the end it, oddly enough, turned out to be crud in the gas tank stinking up the carb.

KZ1000ST brings up an interesting point. I do tend to snap the throttle open. Today I received my iridium plug and I will modify my throttle habits and see how it goes.
