Thumbs down Roketa 250 problem

Gentlemen, got a Roketa 250 and was wondering if any of you have had this problem. Riding through town last week and my speedo and odometer stopped working. Needle just fell straight down.

If I do have to replace, best place to get it? Thanks in advance for any help given.

Hello and welcome.

You can try here. I bought parts from them before. I also admit I've pulled part numbers from there and bought elsewhere.

did you check to see what went bad before you order? It could be more than or less than you think. I have ordered from here http://www.scooterparts4less.com/ with success. These guys are good too http://www.partsforscooters.com/ also try www.buggypartsnw.com I don't know if the last one will have them but he is a joy to do business with...

Hi
As scootnwinn says did you check it over yet?
If your scooter speedometer is not working most of the time it is a result of a broken speedo cable. Broken, old and frayed speedo cables can be replaced relatively easily. There are a few ways to check out the speedo cable. Remove the cable at the front wheel. The speedo cable is in two separate parts - the inner cable and the outer sheath. Try to fish out the inner cable and pull it out a foot or so. Is it complete, or broken? If it looks ok, pull it all the way out. Did it come out in one piece? You can tell because the end of the cable will be squared off at the speedometer end. If the cable is ok, apply a little grease or oil and reassemble. Next, spin the front wheel and watch to see if the speedo drive in the wheel is moving. If it does not move either the pins have sheared off or the gears are stripped. Some of these parts are replaceable. If the gear drive unit is ok, reattach the cable to the wheel end. Disconnect the cable from the speedometer and spin the front wheel. You should see the end of the cable turning, if it does, reattach the cable to the speedometer. If the speedometer still does not work, then the speedometer itself will need attention. Sometimes they get gummed up after a long time. See if the parts will move by hand. If not, try disassembling the speedometer and spraying some lube into the back of the cable hookup.
Take care and ride safely
Yours Hank

Yep. All of a sudden like that? I think the cable snapped too.

I dont know, for some reason I dont think its the cable. But I guess I will just have to dig deeper and find out. I really didnt take anything apart yet and investigate. I will keep you all updated when I find out.

Thank you all for the help, I appreciate it greatly. You guys are great. I will also check out those links.
