Agreed no cell phones and if you are running your "crotch rocket" at 85 mph on surface streets prepare your will and become an organ donor. Ask your family to understand that you have no regard for your own or other's safety and by all means, watch out for red VW's... Seriously guys be careful out there and watch your speed in town there is a time and place for hooliganism and shenanigans in town is not the place...

You can never be too safe these days with how people drive I think I scan the road when I ride more than I do anything... just because of instances like this happening. Yours Truly Mean_Motofino.net

If this is the crash I am thinking of, it happened in Norway about 4 years ago. I thought it was stupid to drive that fast when you have the bike for only a short time and I haven't changed my mind.

I went to the library today and checked out "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough. I've got a lot of reading to do in the next two weeks. I've heard it is a very good book on cycle safety.

From the photo, you'd think he parked his scoot inside the car for transport...
Unbelievable... So many things can go wrong at those speeds! Regardless of cell phone, chances are that the driver wouldn't have seen the scoot rider approaching, as it was more than likely going much faster than 85MPH. Remember, if the time of the impact, it was going 85MPH, then it probably was going 100MPH, before the rider emergency braked! |
