Nod Splicing a new stator in?

I have a 150cc Vento phantom r4i. It won't produce a spark so I am replacing the stator. I have a 6 pole, 5 wire connection. My connection connection has 4 holes but one of those holes isn't used so it is a 3 wire connector and 2 other single wires coming off the stator main wire. The replacement stator has a 4 wire connector and only one single wire. Rather than return the part, can I just cut off the new connection and replace it with the old, correct connection? I'm assuming that 4th wire would become the 2nd single wire i need? Please advise. Thanks for your help! I bought her like this and am so ready to take it for a spin!

Just thinking I can pop those wires from the pin connector out and swap the two out.
