I can tell you this. After five and a half years this thing has been almost bulletproof. While I've tinkered and repaired my China scoots this bike just sits waiting to go. It's not powerful enough for everything I encounter here in the hills so I don't use it for everything. After 4,000 miles it has done it's share of runs. I have taken it on a pair of 80 mile rides, used it to commute over an 800 foot climb and fetched groceries without a complaint. When I say it has Japanese reliability no one believes me.
