And the Burgy 400 gets an update. New paint colors. Pretty much it for the scooter world.

Like it was new. During WWII the British were running all over the countryside on bikes.

I get freedom of choice but it just seems like common sense to me.

To each their own concerning helmet use. But me? ALWAYS! I do wear a turtle/half helmet when the weather gets into the triple digits though. No way does the turtle helmet feel as safe and secure as my Schuberth modular helmet but lately I've been wimping out and taking the car on super hot days.

I know it's not thrilling you but how is the Honda working for you? Right now they're cleaning up on the Scooter Cannonball along with the XMax's. I wanted to try an XMax at Americade but there was only one and it was booked for most of the day by the time I got there.

I'm at 2500 miles on the PCX. I still find it boring but its been reliable so far, nothing to note. The add-on PUIG windshield extension sucks. It folds itself flat when I hit bumps. I think I got some polish on the hinges when washing the PCX. That's not Honda's fault though.
I've never dropped below 95 miles to the gallon and have managed to squeeze out 100 for a day! I still hate the mid step over hump but it forced me to start stretching during the day. Getting old is weird (at time of writing I'm 54). A co-worker purchased a new Honda Trail 125 in yellow. He's yet to ride it into work but I want his full review of it. I almost think its his first ever street legal motorcycle. I could never master that clutchless shifting on those things, yet I think the new Super Cub is the best looking bike ever! What are you currently riding kz? Still got the Helix clone? How many miles on it if you still ride it? |

I took the Spectre to Americade at the end of May, did 588 miles in four days and was totally able to hang with some 20 and 30 somethings on the twisty roads of the Adirondacks unlike my older friend, at 69 years old, on a Harley 114 cu FLHTp Police edition. He was left in the dust. I felt pretty good tracking the children on my 42 year old bike. The bike was comfortable, nearly vibration free and 50 mpg with four carburetors. At 73 years old it all felt pretty good.

Well here's the bargain of the Century if you're looking for a Liberty replacement.
https://www.powersportsmax.com/produ...ducts_id/26799 14" wheels, 200cc, well 168.9, and fuel injected. Keep it as a spare or when the Honda bores you too much. LOL

I don't go on rides anymore, as in anything other than commuting to and from work. I'll never take the scooter over the car on the weekend and my wife no longer rides as passenger unless we absolutely need to. So even if I did buy something fun it would still be used strictly for commuting. At this point I relate scooters/motorcycles as work vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I like my job but I'm kinda looking forward to retirement. Once I retire it'll be no more scooters/motorcycles for me. I no longer enjoy them like I used to.
If I find the perfect ebike I might just replace the PCX sooner. I still enjoy and love ebikes and try to ride as much as possible. The 3 I currently own all have their faults so I always look for a unicorn among ebikes. My 3 ebikes and their faults. Letric Xpedition. Creaky and cheap feeling but it always gets the job done. Batteries are a pain to remove. Easily handles a passenger though. Rad Power RadRunner 2. I rarely pedal when I use it. It was cheap to purchase and they are bullet proof. Slow 20mph top speed and only 1 speed so you ghost pedal really quick with it. Easily handles a passenger. Should I have waited for the new RadRunner Max? Might the Max be the one? JackRabbit OG. I had to have one but it hasn't been ridden in awhile. I'd give it to someone for free if they would actually use it. Fun, reliable and does what it says. CANNOT carry a passenger! I think the perfect ebike for me is out there and when I find it it could easily replace the scooter, but so far the boring PCX has the commuter job. |

I'm on the opposite side. I finally retired in 2018 from a part time job. I was using the scooters and motorcycles to ride the 14 mile round trip, weather permitting. Now I only ride for fun. My wife isn't capable of climbing on so I only ride alone. I do about a half dozen events a year and a couple of Bike Nights. Oh, and Americade in Lake George adding about 600 miles or so in the four days including the trip there and back.
Once upon a time I was doing fifty miles a day to a real job on my motorcycle racking up about 8k or so a year. That job ended with a plant closure and some jobs were motorcycle free after that. I sat down and figured out my overall mileage from 1973, when I got my street bike license, until now. It is about 250k and slowly creeping up. I had been using the CF Moto for a few years exclusively but a life changing event had me buy a pair of motorcycles. After trying the Vespa 310 I know another scooter won't ever happen. If it's anything it will be another bike at most. The 450 CF Moto's showed me I could live quite happily with a 450cc bike. The 450CL-C was pretty solid and the 450SS, while really fun is for younger leg joints than mine. And I changed my signature to reflect the reality of my two wheeled fleet.

I've turned into a homebody after covid. I know that's a lame excuse but it happened and I don't really see anything changing. Before covid I'd go to a show at least once a month, sometimes 4 shows a month. Punk rock, hardcore, metal, noise, if its loud and crazy I was there. After covid I lost interest in going to shows. I used the scooter for 90% of these shows for a low profile after leaving should I have been drinking. Heck, I rarely even drink anymore.
I have been tempted to get another 2-stroke to stay fresh with 2-stroke motors. A vintage moped sounds fun, either a Tomos A35 or A55 or another Minarelli V1 powered 'ped. Or I can get something like a Genuine Rough House. I got burned out on Yamaha Zuma's so no more of them. Before you think I sound suicidal my current hobby is pinball. We have a small "barcade" close to the house with a few pins and a pretty nice pin spot in Grandy NC. Many times my wife and I considered getting a VR type pinball machine but nothing beats the real thing. My Nintendo Switch has a bunch of pinball machines loaded on it so I can practice rules and shot ideas. |

I raced dirt bikes in my youth until the day I finally realized that I wasn't able to take enough chances to be a winner. I bought the 1968 Yamaha and never looked back.

My prior boss tried to sell me a Suzuki RG500 Gamma. It was a 2-stroke terror and I wasn't ready (and still not). I agree 100% about 2-strokes being stinky and sometimes temperamental. Nowadays you can buy a fun smaller 4-stroke and just ride and enjoy. Kawasaki now sells the KLX230 Sherpa in the USA. I would love something like that to fool around on. I don't need a wheelie monster or a stop light racer, plus its a Kawasaki, the one brand I've never owned new or used.
But for the price of the Sherpa I could buy a vicious fast ebike, like a Surron Light Bee. Or save some money and get a Ariel Rider or a Ride1Up Rev DRT and just ride it like a ebike. Time will tell what I end up with, if anything. The PCX is doing its job just fine. My wife told me to track down another Honda NTV650. I LOVED that bike so much and knew my way around it. Not sure if I want something that "old" though. |

Yeah!!! Bring it QJ Motors! Even the LTR 150 doesn't get enough play here but a Big Wheeled scooter might. Especially with a bigger horsepower 150.
